Marine Projects refer to new construction, reconstruction and expansion projects whose main part is located on the sea side of the coastline for the purpose of developing, utilizing, protecting and restoring Marine resources. It is generally believed that the main content of ocean engineering can be divided into resource development technology and equipment and facilities technology which include reclamation, sea dike engineering, artificial islands, sea and underwater materials storage facilities, cross-sea bridge, the tunnel engineering, the seabed pipelines, underwater electrical (light) cable engineering, Marine engineering, mineral resources exploration and development and its affiliated maritime tidal power, wave power station, thermoelectric power station and other Marine energy development and utilization of engineering, large water, artificial fishing reef engineering farms, Projects for comprehensive utilization of seawater such as salt pans and seawater desalination, projects for Marine recreation and sports, and landscape development, as well as other Marine projects specified by the State Oceanic Administration jointly with the competent department of environmental protection under The State Council.
